a great story.... this is something one needs to read   Papa of paparazzi will not say sorry A HOLLYWOOD paparazzo famous for being sued by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and getting his teeth knocked out by Marlon Brando is unapologetic about the guerrilla celebrity photography culture he helped pioneer. But Ron Galella, who at 77 still has an active press pass, says he has little interest in being part of a celebrity photo industry that now values controversy over glamour. Galella has a new book titled No Pictures that shows famous faces like Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger and actors Sean Penn and Elizabeth Taylor shielding themselves from his lens. He says celebrities who act like they do not want to be photographed are hypocrites who secretly adore the attention. Galella says the paparazzi business has changed since his heyday. " When I started it was one to one. Me and Jackie. Me and Liz Taylor," he said in his New Jersey home, decorated with pictures of just about every ...

Journalism...this? Salman Khan recently walked the ramp with Miss Universe Zuleykha Riviera... And it was not a regular normal. Yes any ramp with Salman would not be regular but what made this event stand out, at least in my eyes, was that he did this...and in fact the whole ramp was staged to raise awareness against AIDS...and to populaise the HIV testing with the slogan "Get tested... it's in fashion!" I was there to cover it and so were all other channels and newspapers present in the city and of course the news agencies. But unfortunatley the news that made out to the audience from the news organisations was that Salman with another lady...this time Miss Universe. Even Katrina Kaif didnt make news who was present there with Salman Khan. It was as if Salman was found hooked to one more lady... this the Miss Uviverse from Puerto Rico, who seem to be in awe of the superstar! When in came to news channels, they found it better to show Salman with Zuleykha on ramp rather ...
The original king of Bollywood The last couple of days has seen the media splashing the faces of two of bollywood’s most popular actors. November 1 was Aishwarya’s b’day and yesterday was Shah Rukh’s day. However today, on the 100th birthday of one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actor Prithviraj Kapoor, there was no trace of any mention. Out of sight, out of mind is a saying that goes well with the media. Prithviraj Kapoor is not just an ordinary actor. He revolutionized the film industry with his acting. And he is the patriarch of the Kapoor family, which may as well be referred to as the first family of Bollywood. My salute to a man whose dream was the Prithvi theatre, which has given a new meaning to Indian theatre and so much to Bollywood.
Hockey misses the goal I went to cover the finals of the KSHA finals between IOCL and Army XI. well i didnt expect much of a crowd as it was just our long forgotten national game but then what i was unhappy about is that the media was also not present ...except a couple of photographers... i recognised one from TOI... there was one person doin video too...but that was about all... the media should play a more active role in promoting the sport. deccan herald which had sponsored the event was the only paper where details of the match and the rest of the tournament were available. this also is the case with sports like football, badminton or TT. Lawn tennis for some glamour element has found its way to the highlight. Although it was easy for me to get an interview from the winning captain and coach and one of the world cup returns... it's sad that this was possible only because no other media person sought them... we dont even know who consists the national team... i was fortunate i...
Media goes down the well! A week back i was amused to see all the news channels giving all their time to a kid being rescued from a well in Haryana. Camera showed live what the kid was doing deep down. La reality TV! The news papers were not to be left behind. All the news papers had it as the lead stories. The Times of India, The Vijay Times etc announced Prince gets second life etc. Nice headlines...I almost thought that the kid was a prince of some state...and read only to learn that is a 5-year old kid who had fallen into a newly dug uncovered well. Quite interestinly the army had been called on for rescue. There were pledges from politicians that they would even get rescue from abroad if needed. Thats not all... After the child's family has been promised Rs 2 lakh and all the army personnel involved get Rs50,000 each. Cool deal. Just made me wonder how lucky people get inspite of being irresponsible. Now the Haryana Govt. has annouced free education for the child. God ble...
